Dine out and do good for this year’s edition of Restaurants for Change on October 19, 2016

Dine Out. Do Good.

That’s the slogan for the Restaurants for Change fundraising event happening across Canada on October 19th, 2016. And what a great slogan it is!

More than 65 participating restaurants in over 15 cities across the nation will donate proceeds from their October 19th dinner service to Community Food Centres Canada. The number of CFCC in Canada is growing. These chefs and establishments are committed in their fight to support local food systems, local producers and the right to good food for all. Funds raised through this event will support the work of Community Food Centres Canada and Good Food Organizations offering healthy food and empowering food skills programs in low-income communities across Canada.

What can you do to help?

Just go out and enjoy a nice dinner at a great restaurant in your town! Head to the Restaurants for Change website and pick a restaurant near you from the list of 65+ participating restaurants. Invite friends and family to join you and book a table for October 19th. The more, the merrier, of course! Eat, drink and be merry and know that all the proceeds from that evening will go to organizations that believe that “healthy food can be a transformative force in low-income communities”. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a great time and a beautiful cause to me!

If you’re in Montreal, you’re in luck because the participating Montreal restaurants are Garde MangerLe BremnerLavanderia and Park Restaurant, all great choices to visit or revisit. Le Bremner’s chef Danny Smiles is a spokesperson for this event. Funds raised in Montreal this year will support the NDG Food Depot/Dépot alimentaire NDG and Community Food Centres Canada.
