Hearts of palm and artichoke bocadillo

A short and sweet post today to let you know about a great new-to-me brunch spot I just discovered last weekend, in case you’re looking for a spot to go to this weekend. I’ve already written about Julieta, the tiny little latino restaurant that opened a few months ago in the Villeray/Petite Patrie neighbourhood, not too far away from where I live. I had gone a couple of days after they opened and had absolutely loved it! Everything is fresh, unique and cooked on the spot by Julieta herself. It’s no different when it comes to their brunches, which I had been meaning to try for a while.

Caraqueño: pulled beef, eggs, housemade cheese, arepito

If you’re looking for your usual fare of bacon and eggs or a stack of pancakes, then Julieta is not for you. However, if you’re looking for something different, a brunch that will transport you to warmer climates and exotic countries, a brunch that will deposit some bright sunshine on your plate, then this is definitely the place for you.

Huevos rancheros

In a decor that’s part vintage, part rustic, the staff at Julieta will offer you one of the most pleasant brunch experiences in town. The food is honest and well executed and the flavours are familiar yet exotic. The tone is more comfort than sophistication and the generous portions come in rustic terracotta dishes that are sometimes a welcome change to the white square plates of this world…

Note that since everything is made with corn flour, Julieta is great for those of you who are on a gluten-free diet!
